Description
It is an encapsulated retroreflective tape, highly flexible therefore ideal for applying in work zone devices. It was specially developed for curved surfaces which can be of difficult application.
Application
Retroreflective tape should be applied to safety devices such as drums, cones, life vests, jackets, buoys, rafts, immersion suits, etc.
Specifications
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Clean the surface carefully to ensure the tape's highest performance. The surface in which the tape is to be applied must be completely clear of dirt, dust, debris and liquids.
Unroll the material and cut to fit the area to be glued on or stitched on. When installing on a lifeboat always take an overleap of 5cm. Temperature after fixing leave it for 24 hours in this temperature. After the tape has been installed it should rest for at least 12 hours for maximum adhesive capacity.
RETROREFLECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
The coefficient of retro reflection (R' in cd- lx-1-m-2) is measured by methods traceable
to either of the following retroreflective intensity testing procedures: ASTM E809 and E810 (RA) or CIE 45: 1982 (R'). Based on tests performed by laboratories in accordance with IMO procedures and verified by an outside third party, this tape meets or exceeds these values.
INITIAL RETROREFLECTION:
| Observation Angle | Entrance Angle | Retroreflective Tape |
| 12' | 5° | 250 |
| 12' | 30° | 150 |
| 20' | 5° | 180 |
| 20' | 20° | 100 |
COLOUR & ADHESIVE TYPE:
Colour: Grey reflecting a bright white light
Adhesive type: Super high-tack
Liner: Paper liner
STRUCTURE:
| Top Film | Total Thickness | Adhesive | Liner Paper |
| 55 micron polyurethane | 250 micron | Clear super high-tack | Yellow paper |
DURABILITY & MAINTENANCE:
The durability of SOLAS retroreflective tape will depend upon compliance with recommended application procedures, exposure conditions and maintenance.
Small rips and cuts can be repaired either fixing tape or placing a small patch of the material and taping to the existing material.
